Franciszek Kossut

AI student · University of Southern Denmark · Vejle

I build machine learning pipelines in Python, from computer vision to speech and language models, and I run the Linux servers they live on.

Achievement

National winner of the Nordic AI Cup 2026, Denmark

With team Elysa's Secret, four first-year students from SDU, I won the Danish round and finished 2nd of all teams in the Nordics, 0.54 points behind the winner from Norway.

  • 1st in Denmark, 45.00 points
  • 2nd in the Nordics, 35.97
  • 82 teams in the final evaluation

Next: the Nordic final in Reykjavík, 14-15 October 2026.

Projects

Nordic AI Cup 2026: three ML tasks

Team of 4 · 2026

Three unrelated machine learning problems, each graded on an evaluation run we could not see in advance.

  • Medical Appointment1st in Denmark

From a recorded appointment to yes/no answers, each backed by the part of the conversation that supports it.

    • faster-whisper
    • Qwen 27B on vLLM
    • DeBERTa
  • Drone Flyby6th in Denmark

Finding and boxing objects in every frame of a drone flight over a city.

    • Ultralytics YOLO11
    • camera geometry
  • Survival Simulator4th in Denmark

A controller for a colony of agents that has to eat, breed and avoid predators.

    • Python
    • CMA-ES
    • bit-exact local simulator

My part. I worked on all three tasks. On Survival I wrote my own controller from scratch, which took our validation score from 1250 to 1815; combined with Alexandru's version it gave our final result. On Drone Flyby I worked out how the ground-truth boxes were drawn, and on Medical I built the first pipeline that scored above 0.80.

MealPlanner

Solo · 2026

An Android app I use to plan my meals: calorie tracking, a fridge list that recipes are matched against, voice input, and a shopping list for whatever is missing. 10 screens, 150 built-in recipes, and a scraper that collected 1,829 more.

Algorithms and data analysis

Solo · 2025-2026

To prepare for the Polish advanced computer science exam, I worked through every past paper from 2005 to 2025: 33 exam sessions of programming, spreadsheet and database tasks. The core algorithms are written by hand, without library shortcuts.

  • Programming77 Python programs

Recursion, Euclid's GCD, primality tests and prime factorisation, number systems, string and array processing, Caesar and columnar transposition ciphers, Pascal's triangle, bubble sort and quicksort, Kadane's maximum subarray.

  • Spreadsheets22 Excel workbooks

Data analysis and simulations with nested IF, SUMIF and COUNTIF, VLOOKUP and INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables and charts.

  • Databases18 Access databases

Multi-table SQL queries: joins, GROUP BY with COUNT, SUM and AVG, date functions and top-N results.

Spend Ledger

Solo · 2026

A web app for tracking income and expenses in DKK and PLN, synced across devices. Sign-in with per-user data protected by row-level security, recurring entries, a 12-month trend chart, CSV export, and it installs and works offline.
